Here’s my FAQs. you’ll be surprised how common your questions may be.

  • The hair extensions I offer are bespoke to each client and has a lot of variety, which means prices are only given on consultation. On average it can be between £400-£700 but it completely depends on length, amount of bonds, colour and your hair.

  • Between 3- 6 months, this depends on a few things including; how strong your hair is, your hair type, the state of growth your hair is in and how well you follow the aftercare.

  • It’s very important to me at Zxaar Hair that you get what is best for you and your monies worth. I have packaged my services to give you everything you need without hidden cost. Prices include; the extensions themselves, pre-application wash with a pre-treatment for you scalp and hair. Cut before application, the application of the extensions, then cut and styling/blending for a natural finish. And a fully comprehensive aftercare package of brush, products (picked for you and your needs) a follow up appointment, as well as continued support throughout the wear of your hair extensions.

  • YES! Definitely. The bonds are very small and discreet and are either clear or match the colour of your hair. They are also designed to move in every direction with your hair, without any tension on your natural hair.

  • YES! The hair is 100% human Indian hair and can be used and styled as normal.

  • Only my type and brand of extensions are truly suitable for fine hair. Why? Because they are the only extensions on the market that can be customised to fit your hair. You hair is unique to you so a one glove fits all approach isn’t always the best when it comes to fine or damaged hair. Also, the materials used to make the bond/attachment, is made with advance technology polymer proteins that mimic the natural hair and allows it to breathe.

  • No matter what you have done, adding more hair will add more time to washing and styling, plus everyone is different. If time is precious in the morning, then I always suggest starting by washing & drying your hair in the evening, then style in the morning. Also invest in a good hairdryer with a nozzle and even a silk turban (bed hat) or a silk pillowcase. Once you have the hang of it you can do it when it suits.

  • There are rules to washing with pre-bonded hair extensions, it’s a lot better than any other type of extensions but you can’t wash as normal per se. What do I mean by this? Well you can’t scrub up and down, but you can’t rub downwards and part the hair to get the shampoo on the scalp. You do have to be careful not to matt the hair, but this doesn’t mean you can’t give it a good and thorough clean.

  • Yes absolutely! Most hair extensions have limits to them and brushing is one of them. However with pre-bonded extensions, brushing is your best friend! The more and thoroughly you brush the less likely you are to have matting, and matting is what causes the damage to natural hair 9 out of 10 times. The best way to brush is to hold the hair and start at the bottom - also use styling aids, like oils or detangling sprays. Then work your way up a bit at a time, you can even part your hair into sections. And! Don’t forget to go over them all important bonds!

  • This depends on what you are trying to achieve, but typically 2 inches. Like I said this is an open question, because if you want to have some to fill a fringe or thin bit, you’ll be surprised with what can be done. But if you are trying to get a full head then ideally you need to have shoulder length hair naturally, and there is also a golden rule for how long you can then go with the extensions.

  • Gold Fever have 9 stocked available lengths so you are spoilt for choice. With regards to what is the right length for you, this all depends on what you are trying to achieve. There is a golden rule, this rule is a guide and can be broken in the right circumstances. The Golden Rule is no longer that 4 inches from the bottom of your hair, so the tip/ends. This is for two reasons, firstly weight – It can be too heavy causing traction alopecia, basically it pulls your hair out. And this can be particularly bad for finer hair types! Secondly blending, the longer you want to go the harder it is to blend the natural hair into the extensions, so it looks just like your own hair. And one thing I cannot stand is hacking into your own hair, because you may not want to wear extensions for 3 years! Like I said there are exceptions to the rule but that needs to be reviewed in person, another reason why a consultation is key.

  • NO. Pre-bonded hair extensions are specialist to other types, I can’t re-create that attachment in the salon and the process to do it just wouldn’t work logistically. Unlike other types of extensions these do not slip or have a short life, they are designed to last for a longer time and have less maintenance. Which means new hair each time, but as a plus to the cycle of efficacy and eco-friendly, the hair is collected and either used for wigs for children with cancer or hair loss, or used in environmental clean-up’s like oil spills.

  • Yes of course. If you have a root tint then that is just as normal, but if you have highlights that may be a little different, although it doesn’t mean you can’t have it as you like.

  • This really does vary depending on what you have done, but to give an idea thickening is 2-4 hours and lengthening/full head is 5-8 hours.

  • Yes, you can use dry shampoo as normal but styling products like oils and creams need to only be used on the hair itself and the bonds need to be avoided. You also cannot use shampoo that contains sulfate, this is because prolonged use will break the bond down. This can then cause them to come out too early, and we don’t want that!

  • Yes, I only use 100% human hair so there isn’t much that you can’t do to your hair extensions that you couldn’t do to your natural hair. However, the bonds must be dried off immediately after washing, as leaving them wet/damp for prolonged periods can start to break them down. Or cause damage to your own hair due to the weight of the wet hair, and that your own hair can stretch up to two times its normal limit when wet.

  • Yes! But you should avoid getting the hair or bonds wet as prolonged exposure to water, dampness, and chemicals such as chlorine will cause your bonds to soften, often resulting in excessive shedding of the extension hair. It can also dry the hair out, so for best results wash and dry your hair immediately after swimming and make sure you use a treatment for the hair to moisturise it.

  • Yes you can, but ideally you should tie the hair up and cover it with a silk or towelling head wrap. Exposure to UV and sunlight can cause the hair to lighten, while heat and sweat can cause the bonds to break down/soften, which can then lead to losing the extension prematurely or excessive shedding of the hair. So it is often good to wash your hair after a sun bed or sunbathing.

  • Of course you can still exercise, go to the gym, and play sports when wearing hair extensions. But I always recommend tying your hair in a ponytail, bun or plait and then washing your hair immediately afterwards.

  • Ideally not, although every now and then may not be a problem, it can be after prolonged use however. If you go for a spa day once a year then go for it, but if it’s regularly after the gym then no. This is because saunas and steam rooms are excessive heat, and this will definitely have an impact on the bond and cause them to shed, stick together or cause matting.
