Why are hair extensions expensive?

Wondering why hair extensions cost so much?

Well, let me give you 7 reasons why…

Firstly, the cost of hair!

60-80% of your investment is the hair itself.
For Zxaar, it’s important that only the best hair possible is used, to ensure longevity and so it looks and feels just like your own hair. What’s that saying… Good hair ain’t cheap, and cheap hair ain’t good!

Pre-appointment prep work.

There is a lot that goes into making sure your hair looks incredible and that means behind-the-scenes, before you come into the salon. I like to plan how I am going to map the application with head sheets and I like to customise my bonds.

Method of application.

Some methods, such as prebonded hair extensions, are very time consuming before and during application but require little repeat salon maintenance. So, although the upfront cost is a lot, you aren’t coming back for regular refits etc.

Initial & continued education.

Let’s face it, the start up cost of becoming an Extensionist is not cheap at all! Let alone the continued up-keep of education. I never stop learning, I only ever want to be the best I can for my clients, and that means being as up to-date with the latest treads and techniques at all times.

Tools & equipment.

Like I said, I need all I can to make sure that I can do my job perfectly. And in the hairdressing industry, tools, equipment, technology etc. moves at a fast pace, meaning I need to update my kit a lot. If there’s a gadget that will make your hair better, then you better believe I’m gonna have it!

Cutting, Styling & Finishing Off (A Pretty Important Bit).

You can have the best hair, the best tools and application… but if it’s not finished off properly then you won’t have seamless hair. Cutting and blending extensions is harder than just normal cutting, as you don’t follow a pattern. Cutting hair normally is maths, but cutting extensions is an ART, it’s balance and feeling.

Aftercare (My fav!).

At Zxaar this is a very important step in the process to perfect hair extensions. I don’t just use any ol' crap!! Just like the hair itself, products and tools that are cheap won’t do what you need or work well, so it’s imperative that you use shampoo’s and conditioners that give long life to the extensions. As well as adding value to your own hair, cos if you can get healthier hair while wearing extensions, wouldn’t that be fabulous!?
